I have been advised in the past that it takes as long to recover from a physical burnout situation as it takes to get into that state in the first place. Wow! that’s big. If you think about how long we can go before we listen to our bodies and we choose to slow down, especially if we have children or high pressured jobs. Some of us can go years without really taking a break.
Of course we take that couple of weeks in the summer and maybe some time at Christmas, but is that really enough? What about those moments during the day that we could just closed our eyes and imagine being on that beach in the warm weather? What about that lunch time when we could put our coats on and grab some fresh air, but we decide not to and gave something other than ourselves priority. Well it's time to stop!! Take that break during the day. Go for that walk at lunch time. Do it for yourself as no one is going to thank you when you are no longer able to make the choice as your body has chosen for you and it has said "No, no more. You are now resting until I tell you that you can get up". I understand this now, but it has taken the total physical breakdown of my body for me to be able to get to that place. Don't be like I was as it is not fun and I would hate for you to have to have that experience too. Do the work. Listen to your body and be kind to yourself. You can do it, I know that you can.
